Letter by Monty Cochran in the 10-08-08 Glendale News-Press “Want cash? Then trim expenses”

A recent article (“City Council looks for cash,” Oct. 4 to 5) mentioned that local leaders want to solve financial shortages just like the state and federal government — by seeking ways to “increase revenue.” How much thought has been put to decreasing expenses?

Through the last few months, I have read several suggestions by Bruce Philpott. Were these disregarded? Are most suggestions to save money tossed in the trash?

Government in general is under fire for just throwing money around and handing out big paychecks and benefits. Who downtown is pushing for common-sense cost-cutting to decrease the never-ending growth of government?
