10-06-08, E-Mail from Glendale Mayor John Drayman to Hal Weber Regarding Frazier TV Show in which Drayman Appeared as “Walnut”!

Dear Hal-

My goodness!  I haven't seen that clip in years.  The episode was called "Selling Out" if I remember correctly.  Columnist Will Rogers mentioned this episode in 2007 during the Candidate's Forum at the Northwest Homeowners Association meeting.  Apparently, it was airing that very night.

There are many films, TV shows, animations and national commercials out there with my mug or voice in them.  In my day (pre-accident) I did some 250 national commercials and hundreds of performances on film or tape and as a voice actor.

It's great to be able to look back and laugh at yourself.  It still amuses me that my training was entirely in the classics on works by Yeats, Strindberg, Brecht, Moliere, Shakespeare, etc., and I had the opportunity to work on a number of American Professional Premiers of great classics by these playwrights.

I then had a successful career as a director of professional theatre throughout the
USA prior to landing in TV, film and voice-over work quite by accident.

In the 1990s when I suffered a serious accident and ended up out of "the biz," it brought me back to
Glendale and public advocacy, an area in which I had begun my work in 1975.

Thank you for the "blast from the past."  Those were fun days.

Sending you my best regards,

J
