07-31-10, Herbert Molano Agrees with Weisman on His Observations of McFall

On Bob McFall

We need to give recognition when it is justified.  The picture we often paint of people we dismiss is too monochromatic, and most of the time we find that the personality of individuals in the public eye are a spectrum of skills, motivations and moral character.

I have many issues of contention with McFall's job performance in regard to city management, policies and results.  But that does not negate that in a decades long employment we may find many achievements have reached fruition through his efforts and diligence.  Many do not know, or instance, that McFall pursued and pushed through the internal audit functions and the audit committee that are essential for internal performance and oversight.

Sometimes we may see someone as 90/10 or 20/80 favorably or unfavorably, but it's a good exercise to find a meritorious action even by someone we may have painted negatively before.  But, it is also applicable that if someone who successfully achieves an objective we admire, it does not inoculate him from scrutiny and evaluation in other areas given his job title, responsibilities and executive-level salary.
