07-19-09, Carl Schmidt’s Comments in the Vanguard Weekly Newsletter Regarding Public Advocates Speaking Out at Glendale City Council Meetings

Where are the advocates that spoke out at City Council? Dr. Espiritu showing his PowerPoints of broken streets and sidewalks; the buses and the lack of ADA compliance in the parks? Bruce Philpott who took the time to research the fire department and budget issues? Herbert Molano is still on the job. I think more and more people are finally realizing what he has been saying. Molano and you [Barry Allen] have the polish and skills to help educate the people. Mike Mohill needs polish in order to move away from the personal attacks. He could be a real asset to the people. Hal Weber and Richard Dickinson both have great websites as well. It must be very discouraging to present facts, issues and processes to a Council that fears the truth and is more concerned about public opinion than fiscal accountability. But, please keep up your efforts. The word “accountability” is important and necessary.
