03-27-09, Observations by Richard Dickinson Regarding Public Employee Unions

A couple observations:

1) GNP's headline "Union declines pay raise" is extremely curious.  I have never seen a union agree to amend an existing labor contract unless someone first asked them to do so.  This is damage control.  The only reason they would voluntarily make this change is to soften public opinion toward their already bloated salaries propped up by extremely high utility payments.

2) Biggs' Community Commentary and viscous attack against Philpott is further evidence that the public employee unions are extremely powerful and extremely interested in the status quo.  Philpott is a career civil servant who has been dedicated to public safety.  Biggs makes a series of statements that are either flat wrong about the fire service, or are deceptive because of half-truths or partial information.
