02-26-09, Letter from Herbert Molano to the Glendale News-Press Regarding
Jason Wells’ Article on the Dunsmore Park Candidate
Forum
Jason Wells (Glendale News-Press,
February 26) presented a concise
summary of the events at Wednesday's forum at Dunsmore Park's community
room. Maybe too concise. I miss from those pages, however, the
discussion I observed on the high utility rates and city's exorbitant employee
salaries that continue to be exposed and for which there are three clear camps.
Those who don't want to review the
city's salary trends, those who want more government accountability, and those
who are tentative.
Those who won't question the city's bloated
salaries: Friedman, Quintero, Najarian, Lafian. Those who want to change them: Philpott,
Kazazian, Stepanian and Yousefian. And
those who are open to exploring accommodating solutions but don't find urgency
in it: Gharpetian, Teahan.
If one of the biggest issues nationally, at the state level, and locally is a
mounting public deficit, should we not be exposing the candidates' position as
they expressed them at these forums?
