01-27-12, How Raising Glendale Water Rates Can Be Avoided!

On Tuesday, 01-31-2012, four members of the Glendale City Council are determined to raise water rates without even first considering returning Twenty Million Dollars that they illegally transferred from GWP to the General Fund in violation of Proposition 218.

The Proposed Ordinance enacts a four year revenue increase of 2% for the first year, 2% for the second year, 4% for the third year, and 5% for the fourth year.

The City Council should vote “No” on this Proposed Ordinance and instead vote “Yes” on returning Twenty Million Dollars from the General Fund to GWP.

Returning the illegally transferred funds from the General Fund to GWP would go a long way toward financing infrastructure maintenance and would render the proposed rate increases unnecessary, or greatly reduce the amount of those increases.
