We have existing cell phone communication poles on
As the photos show, each pole looks different, they
are not regularly maintained and I think additional equipment has been added
since the original placement. In addition, signaling devices are being
placed at ground level and I don't think that was part of the original
agreement allowing this equipment to be placed.
I feel that if the City establishes Standards for
types of equipment and location of placement, we can get the vendors to use
similar types of technology and the City can provide a defined grid to
dictate where the poles and cages are placed, how far apart they are and
consistency in the look of the equipment. The vendors for the existing
equipment should be made to clean up their equipment and establish a regular
maintenance schedule.
Since this equipment is being installed at such a
rapid rate, it is important that we take charge of what is being placed and
where it is placed and not let the communications vendors do it for us.
